TasPride Queen's Ball

THE GLBTI community came out in force for the flamboyant annual Queens Ball last weekend. And what a ball it was. Tattersall's Hotel in Hobart hosted TasPride’s annual celebration of all things gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender and intersex.  Across two levels of Curly's and the Rooftop Bar, around 800 revellers embraced the Circus theme in costume and attitude. Party freaks were getting freaky in the most flamboyant and fabulous way.  With live performers including Miz Ima Starr, the singing, wisecracking cabaret phenomenon who has starred in short films, a feature film, made over 20 TV appearances and headlined at the Sydney Opera House, Adelaide Fringe and more.  Also ramping up the camp factor was Ringmistress Virginia Hamm, and dance floor favourites Dan Murphy (Syd), DJ JoSH (Adel), with locals D2M, Tom, MarQ and Kat, as well as a costume parade and competition.  With dancing and chill space inside, films on the big screen outside, and for the first time, an exclusive TasPride Member VIP Lounge, this was the best kind of drag on a long weekend.  Is it time for another? Please?  The Queens Ball was the most fun and flamboyant event I've been to in Hobart in a long time...   People were so positive, enthusiastic and into it. Pure, honest fun was had.  In fact, I'm trying to come up with an example of something more fun. Will get back to you.   In the mean-time, I'm going to join the GLC / TasPride, so I'm in the loop for future parties hosted by these party peeps.

DJ JoSH celebrates 25 years

Josh has been a well known figure in the Australian dance music and clubbing scene for many years, in fact she celebrates 25 years behind the decks in February 2009. Josh has won numerous awards in her career so far and has played locally and nationally at some of the most memorable club nights, dance parties and events. She’s captivated audiences both gay and straight, young and old, playing house, trance, hard style and NRG.

Hailing from SA, Josh has notched up a whopping four Sydney Mardi Gras plus parties such as Red Raw, Sin Millenium, Sounds On Sunday (The Green Wood), The Icebox, Arq, Enchanted, Heaven, La La Land, Throb, Home Night Club, Sydney Sleaze, Adelaide Sleaze, Brisbane Sleaze, The Whikam Hotel, Homesexual, Toybox and more. Josh still has a passion for trance and NRG styles in which she is still in high demand, and along with her partner in production crime Tim Ericson she produces under the guise JvE and the 33 feat Costa, signed to Bexta’s Mixology Digital label.
